It seems we are short on intelligent conversation in the media today. Just tune in CNN or Fox News to get a dose of talking heads, shouting at each other about God knows what.
That’s why I love Ibarionex Perello’s podcast The Candid Frame. Not only is it the best, don’t-miss photography podcast on the Internet, he’s just a damn good interviewer. One of the best in American media today.
He was a big influence on my starting SPM, and we’ve never met. Thanks dude, one day I’ll explain.
The show is like sex, it’s always good, but some are better than others. His latest show (August 26, 2013) was one of the best…especially for street photographers.
In this edition he interviews photographer Dan Winters. Winters is a prolific commercial, portrait and editorial photographer with a very broad body of work. They could have discussed anything, but the interview quickly diverged into a very intelligent conversation about street photography. Winters had some very interesting takes on the work of many of the masters of the craft. Perello himself is a very accomplished street photographer so it was great fun to hear these guys just chat about something I love. It was like being a fly on the wall.
So check it out, you’ll love it. Me, I’m going to listen to it again.
