Selected as a Street Shooter in Issue 10 and as featured photographer of Issue 11, Naveed Dadan is an interesting fellow who is both a zoologist and an avid street photographer. As a scientist, he is trained to observe the world around him – a skill that has served his passion for street photography well. Naveed shoots in a country rich in color, but he chooses to photograph his subjects in black-and-white, revealing the essence of character without the distractions of color.
If you haven’t visited his website yet, be sure you do. Naveed has a beautiful collection of both street and urban photos. I especially enjoyed his “Photo Stories” section, in which he has some superb photo projects on display. In “Queen of the Hills”, Naveed takes you to Darjeeling and Chowrasta Square as he explores the effects tourism is having on local life in this beautiful high altitude city. In “Little Monks of Namchi”, Naveed shares some shots from the daily lives of young monks living in a Buddhist monastery in India. We’re looking forward to his upcoming story too, “The Lost World”.
Here are a few more shots by Naveed:
