Issue 35 is ready to download. It’s something of an extremely international issue, this April edition. We hope you love it. Here’s what you’ll find inside:
First up is an interview with French photographer Gilles D’Elia. Gilles is incredibly talented. His work is classic and timeless, with a healthy dose of creativity. You’ll enjoy his thoughts on many aspects of street photography including his transition from teaching philosophy to becoming a professional street photography as well as why street photography is a double art, or at least it should be: the perfect combination of documentary and aesthetic value.
Susana Gomez is something of a travel/photography addict, like most of us. While traveling to an “exotic, dusty, third world country” is exciting (to say the least), there are some important things to keep in mind when shooting in that kind of environment. If you’re planning a trip like this soon, Susana’s article, “Street Photography in the Third World,” will be your go-to guide along the way.
Pushkar Raj Sharma takes us along on a personal adventure of his own. Raised a Hindu, at 33 years of age he had never stepped foot in a mosque, even though a very famous mosque – Jama Masjid – was right around the corner from his home. His project centers around a venture inside the mosque and the images he took home with him.
Hernan Villa hails from Argentina and he’s put together an article titled, “The Best Equipment for Street Photography.” This is an excellent read if your just starting out and not sure what you need or if you are an experienced street shooter who wants to get back to the basics.
Fyodor Telkov, from Russia, has created a documentary series about the Ural Mari. The Mari are a group of people with a history and culture that span centuries. A large group of them are known as the Ural Mari. Today, they struggle to maintain their culture and traditions as the world changes ever faster around them. Will they be able to do so? Or will they be assimilated with the passing of a few more years? Fyodor’s article considers the issue.
Finally, and as always, we have a beautiful selection of street shots from our hand picked “Street Shooters of the Month” to share with you. Head over to the website or Apple newsstand to download it today!
