We live in a world full of colors and beauty, which is exactly the feeling that “Colors of the Streets” wants to spread and share.
With this short series of street photos, I try to capture the essence and the contrast of colors in the streets. The urban environment is full of colors and we, humans, are just part of this atmosphere.
We see in color, and our world is in color, so it is an important aspect to show and value in every photo. Because for me colors are important and part of any urban space, I want to show how they can be integrated and how they can really show more details of a local culture and add value to spontaneous moments.
When I go out and shoot street photography in color, I totally see the world in color. I realize that all around me there are amazing colors, contrasts and it’s like I’m not obliged to look for colors because colors are just around me everywhere, above all in Latino-American streets.
Shooting color has also helped me see the world in a new and refreshing way, which is also much more colorful, happy and positive.
So this is totally something that inspires me, to go out there with my camera and catch colorful moments and situations, made from people and the environment around them. To share the beauty of the streets and give some color to people’s lives.
It’s been two years I’m focus on this project, while traveling in Latino-American countries, such as Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica,… and of course I’m excited to follow this project on every trip I make. It’s now something natural that my eye is more attracted by brilliant colors and I so catch street photos giving attention to colors that form part of the local culture.
Every trip I take now, in a new or known Latin County, I need to take my time alone and just walk around, look at people in their daily life, and catch the essence of a place remembering the importance of the colors around us.
I just open my eyes, wait for the good moment and catch some of those pictures. It’s something that I started like an hobby, like a way to travel alone and have fun, but now I realize it’s a part of me. I need to take my time alone and discover the streets I’m visiting, being part of them or maybe just a spectator that wants to catch the magic of spontaneous moments.
So I just invite everyone, photographer and not, to go out there and start to see life in color because it can really help you to have another perspective in daily life. Colors are magic, they are positive and inspiring.
