Mark your calendars for Carnaval in Argentina! Harvey Stein is hosting an amazing workshop in the bustling South American city of Buenos Aires during one of the most colorful events of the year, Carnaval. Here’s what you can expect:
“Buenos Aires is an incredibly vibrant city full of contradictions. It combines old world vibes with South American flare. It combines great old European architecture with lively streets. And it has a wide variety of cultural activities. The tango is one of its biggest attractions. This world famous music and dance started in the ghettos of Buenos Aires around the turn of the 20th century, we will visit a tango club and hopefully will be dancing into the night.
“During Carnival there are all sorts of comparsas (people dressed up in colorful costumes parading in the streets) and murgas (people playing music in the streets). We have special access to photograph the comparsas and the murgas. We will also visit the oldest neighborhoods in the city, where the Spanish and Italian immigrants arrived in the 1800’s and where today we find artists and dancers performing in the streets.
Enrollment is limited to the first 12 people who register and mail in a deposit. It will be a busy, exciting, value laden workshop, filled with many terrific shooting opportunities with time also for critiques, discussions of technique and photographic philosophies, and free time for personal exploration. The workshop is primarily for intermediate/advanced photographers; early enrollment is recommended, enrollment is limited to 12 people. Digital and/or traditional film shooting are welcome.
Past students had this to say about their experience with Harvey during past workshops:
“Being given intimate access and the freedom to photograph Carnival in Buenos Aires up close and personal, with no constraints, was a unique, once-in-a-life time opportunity and learning experience. It’s difficult to imagine a more inspired opportunity and challenge for anyone interested in street photography.”
“Harvey takes his role as a gifted teacher very seriously on his workshop expeditions, providing very useful instruction, very meaningful inspiration, and very thoughtful and insightful critiques. He also ensures that there is humor and fun along the way.” – Lynn Savarese, past Argentina Workshop Participant

This price includes tuition, hotel, (double occupancy; there are a limited number of single rooms available for a $550 single supplement), seven breakfasts, and two dinners, ferry to Colonia, guide for the graffiti tour, and private van to San Antonio.
