Looking for a competition to enter? This one might just be the ticket. Now through the early days of January, 2019, the Sony World Photographer Awards is accepting submissions for a global competition with some excellent jurors and prizes. Here are some details straight from the event organizers:
“The Sony World Photography Awards is one of the most celebrated and diverse photography competitions in the world. Now in its 12th year, our goal is to showcase the best contemporary photography worldwide.
“The Awards are free to enter and open to all levels of photographer, from emerging 12-19-year-olds, enthusiastic hobbyists, and students, to established professionals. There is a competition and a category for everyone, from Architecture, Documentary, Landscape, Portraiture, Sports, Street Photography, Wildlife, Travel, Culture, and more.”
There are a few different categories to choose from, but you can only submit your images to one.
Professional – In one of the ten Professional categories: Architecture, Brief, Creative, Discovery, Documentary, Landscape, Natural World & Wildlife, Portraiture, Still Life, and Sport, photographers must submit a series of images with 5-10 images. This category aims to recognize outstanding bodies of work.
Open – Photographers of any age and skill level may submit single images to the following ten diverse categories: Architecture, Culture, Creative, Motion, Landscape, Natural World & Wildlife, Portraiture, Still Life, Street Photography, and Travel.
Youth – Photographers ages 12-19 may submit a single image in response to the 2019 brief, “Diversity.”
