I spend a lot of time shooting along a seven block area of the Charlottesville, Virginia downtown mall. It’s amazing that I continue finding good photo subjects there after two years. Of course it’s the light, the people, the weather, and activities that change while the architecture stays the same.

Glasgow noir by Gary Quinn
This is probably the least picturesque lane in Glasgow but the quality of light and mid 20th century architecture surrounding it, make it a geometric feast for the eyes. I spent some time working the scene before choosing this composition and I didn’t have to wait long for a good subject.

This picture has been taken at an open market, in the busiest hour of its busiest day. In such situations, strangers precipitate into ephemeral shapes, as if a hidden choreographer is placing them on a stage to create order from chaos, for a fraction of the second, at least.
