A family down on there luck found cheap, temporary lodging at this motel just south of Jasper, Florida. I made a conscious decision to give the kids their space, but they surrendered to instinct and swarmed me like moths to a flame. The mother emerged from a door and was not as enthusiastic.

So I turned a corner and spotted this man. I think he may be homeless. Anyway, I did my level best to respectfully ask him in Chinese if I might take his portrait and to my great surprise, in view of the anti-photography culture here, he assented. I showed it to him afterwards but he barely reacted.
