Interview with Sabrina Merolla

Sabrina Merolla is an amazing documentary and street photographer who, above all, is a storyteller. She comes from Italy and spent many years in China and other places around the world. She tells stories about non-places, limbo number four and roads. She is intriguing and we are sure you will love hearing her perspective on different cultures and realities, ones that we sometimes overlook.

Sabrina Merolla

After a carrier as Sinologist and researcher, Sabrina has become a photographer and multimedia story-teller, living between China and Italy. Her previous projects have mainly focused on contemporary China and its multifaceted identities and displacements. She attended Bolton University (U.K.)/BFSLU (China)'s M.A. in International Multi Media Journalism, in Beijing. Her works have been exhibited, among the others, at PAN-Palace of the Arts of Naples (Italy: 2010 and 2012), The Italian Consulate of Guangzhou (2010), Yin Photo Gallery (798 Art District: 2012, Beijing), Pingyao International Festival of Photography (China; 2012). She was among 2012 Creative Commons' FOCUS ON CHINA prize winners. On 2014 she earn a 3rd place for the Photo Essay and two honourable mentions for photojournalism at Mobile Photo Awards. She has been selected as finalist exhibiting photographer at SIPA-Siena International Photo Awards 2015 (Siena, October 2015). (Bio image by Alice Carefrae.)
