This month’s featured photographer is a world traveler, biologist, author, and street photographer (of course). Pia Parolin is of Italian and German nationality and currently lives in Nice, France. That kind of diversity in background and undertakings made for quite an interesting conversation.
Pia told us about her many photographic projects, some of which revolved around her personal life, and others around discovering the beauty of familiar places. She even had a few stories to share about her adventures as a biologist.
Pia is kind and open about her life and photography, which made it a real pleasure to speak with her. We know you’ll enjoy this interview. Click the audio player below to give it a listen.

Aluminium Slaves
The warm sun shines into the face of a worker through a little window. His eye is illuminated while his hands keep on working on the hot melted aluminium in the mold. These workers take the melted aluminium with their bare hands and pour it into the moulds, securing them with their naked feet. This young man looks at me, proud, he knows he will probably never leave this place in his life but looks me straight into the eyes.
