Interview with Frank Blazquez

This month, we had the pleasure of speaking with Frank Blazquez. Frank resides in Albequerque, New Mexico, and had an interesting journey to street photography and filmmaking, which actually started out with opticianry. Nowadays, Frank uses portraiture to investigate humanity and tell a story. His story revolves around the people who live in and around Albequerque’s “War Zone.”

What is the War Zone like? What is it like to grow up and live there, seeing the stark reality of gangs, crime and drugs on a daily basis? What is it like to survive substance abuse, to raise a family after having been in a gang for years? These are the stories Frank tells, and they aren’t the only ones. Listen in by clicking the audio player below as Frank explains why he does what he does, how he started and what he hopes to achieve.
