I am delighted to have two featured photographers again this month. It will be like a tale of polar opposites and sometimes astral twins. One of our photographers is from the East Coast and the other from Los Angeles. One has many years of experience and the other is very new to street photography. And one tells their story from a distance while the other is up close and personal. Yet they both approached street shooting with an almost Zen-like approach.
Although they have different styles, they both approached their shooting like an empty vessel with no agenda, preconceived notions or plans. They both shoot what comes along as it happens.
Juan Jose Reyes is back this month with a tutorial about how to make your images more interesting by including several layers of subjects on different planes. Don’t miss this one. Also, don’t miss this month’s SPM Flickr shooters of the month. We have another collection of excellent photographs from a variety of photographers around the world. Be sure to check out their work both in the magazine and their own photostreams.
Robin Wong has provided us with a review of another fine street camera, the Olympus EP-5. Whether or not you’re in the market for a new camera his photos make this an excellent read.
And Ben Johnson has continued our series on mobile photography with his article about taking better images with your iPhone.
