If you haven’t read it yet, you must check out Eric Kim’s free eBook, “Learn from the Masters”. I don’t doubt the truth of Eric’s words when he says it was only after about a hundred shots of espresso, that he finally completed the newest “Learn From the Masters of Street Photography” PDF book. This is the second version and, in Eric’s words, it “distills the wisdom of the masters of street photography into 100 practical lessons”.
What masters are we talking about? Robert Capa, Anders Petersen, Garry Winogrand, HCB (of course), William Klein, and many more.
What kind of lessons are we talking about? How to embrace your “beginner’s mind”, how to get closer, how to shoot what you feel, how to get rid of G.A. S., and the list goes on and on.
If you are just getting started in street photography, I highly recommend this read. It will give you a good overview of some of the techniques used by several of the street photography greats along with many snippets of their sage advice. In fact, even if you are an experienced street shooter, I would bet you’ll still glean quite a few gems of wisdom from the forefathers of street photography (and Eric Kim).
